The importance of Insurance

I just read an e-mail from a friend as follows:

One afternoon, I received bad news from a friend who bought insurance from me when I was still an active agent many years ago. She asked me if I can help to process a claim. Her husband just passed away, due to a sudden heart failure. There was no sign, no symptoms, no warning at all. He suddenly fell unconscious after having lunch with his colleagues. When he was sent to the hospital emergency, he was declared dead, at the age of only 37.

I felt so sorry about the situation and I thought to myself, why didn't I get him to be insured for more? Later on, I helped with the claim process and found that he had bought several policies, and his company also provided more than 2 years of his income as the benefit to the family. So the wife and their new-born baby are well-taken care of with a loan-free property (because of MRTA) and quite a substantial lump sum of money. I felt relieved.
